I have been starting to take Tatum out in the back yard and I’m introducing her to jumps. Today before dinner she was so enthusiastic! I was thrilled. I held her back and said ‘rreeaaaddy….’, and over the jump she went! I was thrilled! We did it a few more times and she just had a great time.
Using a cottage cheese lid, I use it as a target for her to head toward after she jumps, loaded with a treat. So she’ll focus forward and keep her head down. Gotta get all the parts right for starting her to jump. I can’t wait until I can get her going on more than one jump, and take her out to where I practice!

She is a beautiful dog. And talented too! I can’t imagine my old dogs ever doing stunts like that. hah.
Thanks Jenna! She sure is a sweetie!
We are guessing she’ll be about 2 in May. Her pretend birthday is May 1st.
Hi Becky.. I am going to teach my old dog, Levi, who is 8, to do flyball! We’ll see how that goes!

Hi Samantha and Mr Tigger! CommentLuv is a wordpress plugin, you can see all my plugins here:

It lists the main pages for them.
Found your blog at Pam’s canine blog carnival.
Wow! Six dogs! and I thought having two was a lot for me. One of my dogs is training to be a guide, but I think they other one might have a shot at agility. He’s an Australian Shepherd mix, but looks a lot like a black lab. The only problem is he’s a bit timid.
Do you have any problems with any of your dogs being timid when performing?

Hi Colby thanks for your visit! I bet your aussie mix would love agility, it really helps dogs’ confidence. Levi, my smooth blue collie boy, was a very insecure puppy. It built his confidence a lot! He used to bark at people and not like dogs. Now he’s great with people.. and better with dogs.
My new collie girl, Tatum, is very nervous in new situations. She’s about a year and a half old. I am bringing her everywhere I can to socialize her and she’s getting so much better. My friend has shelties and two of hers can be very timid, but out in the agility ring they know their job and they love it!
That same friend said she once said… out dogs keep multiplying and we’ve never had a litter! LOL that’s what we get for being in rescue. We got the last 2 in just the last 7 months.
LOL Johann our lids mostly have teeth marks too.
Hi Cynthia, thanks for the information. I might try Linus in agility when we’re done with Stetson’s guide dog training.
Linus barks at other dogs, but is pretty good with people. However, he does guard the house and is leery of strangers.
